I have been using the Ritmo for about two months and love it. It is easy to use and awesome for working out. Just put it on and insert your ipod and go! You can control the sound with different volumes for you and the baby. It doesn't move around while working out and is so comfortable. We also use it with our two younger children to record stories and let the entire family be a part of the birth process.
The Ritmo is exactly as described and pictured. I figure, why not give my baby every possible in-utero advantage even if there is no proof in-utero sound therapy works. I am certainly not relying on this to create a baby genius, but the product works very well, produces nice sound quality, is made from good materials and is packaged well. I liked the idea of surround sound only because my baby is pretty active and this gives him/her the best shot at having a full sound experience =) My husband travels internationally so we plan to record him reading bedtime stories to the baby for me to share when he is out of town. We are also asking my parents (who live out of town) to do the same. It is a nice way to expose the baby to voices that should be familiar one day. The unit is easy to use and fits comfortably. I did read (separately) that one hour a day is sufficient and will not overstimulate the baby so as comfortable as the Ritmo is, and as much as I like sharing my music with the little one, I don't plan to go overboard for my listening enjoyment. My sister had another prenatal sound system that offered the typical two speakers and she found the belt to be difficult to keep in place. That is not a problem with the Ritmo. I'm 16 weeks and just showing and even though there is plenty of room for me to grow (belly first) into the belt, it does not slide around or fall. It comes with a belt extender should I really blossom overnight. Also, the sound controller lends a first-time-mom (like me) some additional peace of mind that I am not harming my baby's ears (though the risk is infinitesimally small - I have researched this thoroughly). Even though there is limited risk at injuring the baby, it is nice to know I can't do harm with the Ritmo Smart-Sound technology. Finally, I especially liked this product because Nuvo is planning to expand its accessory line for post-natal listing (coming soon according to the manufacturer). Great gift for expectant moms! This one is happy to have the product and share some additional bonding time with my baby!
